... The entire time, and especially when the tanks were driving to the tower, they were shooting from machine guns and tanks. By the tower you could hear series of gun fire and the jingling of shattering windows. In the tower there was intensive gun fire for about an hour, and you could still hear individual shots later on. Once the intensive firing in the tower had quieted down a bit, light tanks sped in and began to chase the people who had gathered by the fence. Not far from us, ambulances were leaving one after another with people who had been either killed or wounded.
Once the army's attack was completed, a large tank and a staff car sped through the crowd on Sudervės Street towards Žvėrynas. The driver and the officer sitting next to him were fervently shooting their guns. The soldiers who were driving in the tank were encouraging themselves by firing as well.
