There were maybe 7 or 8 rows standing around the tower. Terrible explosions began and we were thrown back from their impact. Pillars of smoke rose in the air. We watched as armored vehicles surrounded the net fence, and as paratroopers got out of them. They were approaching. Our men went forward. Some 4 meters away from me, some sort of packet exploded and it left a puff of smoke. I covered my mouth with my scarf. Another packet exploded under my legs. It seemed like my legs had been cut off. I saw a paratrooper in front of me. He hit me with the butt of his gun and I blacked out. In this way, beating people with his gun, he made his way to the tower. It was a truly hellish sight - it's beyond expression. The tower windows fell with a clanking sound, and there were volleys of machine-gun fire. You could hear shouting: “Doctor!" Corpses were lying near an ambulance... An explosion tore and singed my coat, I felt as if I was wearing glass...
