...When we moved about 10 meters from the tower, the tanks turned towards the people, and one began to „storm" - it chased the people who were running, trampled and broke trees. The soldiers lined up, shooting and making threats, and started to push everyone away from the tower. Going up to one group, I heard people talking with an officer of the offensive rank. The conversation was peaceful: the officer said where they were from, and that his group had blank cartridges. When asked why he was doing this, he answered: „Ja vypolniaju prikaz". (,,I'm carrying out my orders") He added that the paratroopers had been promised promotions if their attack on the tower was successful.

We watched as the floors of the tower were taken over one after another, as the tri-colored /Lithuanian/ flag was replaced by the red, bloody flag of the assault division...

A group of people swarmed by the walls of the administrative building yard. Some of them, women mostly, were going down the stairs, while others were leaping down and helping others. After one volley of shots there was a cry: „My leg's been shot!" The injured man was taken from the wall and quickly carried to an ambulance. Then a girl screamed: „My leg!" We wanted to carry her, but she: „Pati nueisiu" (I'll go myself"). They had to cut her boots to take them off. And this is what the murderers - the attackers - did to “cleanse" the tower as quickly as possible - they shot the people in the legs...

From the loudspeaker you could hear a voice - perhaps it was Jermalavičius. Only a supporter of these murderers, who had just spilt innocent blood, could pronounce those words so sacrilegiously: “.Broliai, sesės..." (..Brothers and sisters...") Everyone was horrified by the cynicism of that traitor.
