From our fifth floor window you could see people running to the tower and could hear people chanting “Lithuania!" Meanwhile, tanks were gathering around the TV tower. The ones on the hill came from Cosmonaut Prospect, while the others came from Sudervės Street past the central entrance where there were a lot of people. Searchlights were cutting through the sky and tank shots were thundering. The people stood there. Tanks were crushing cars and people. The tanks turning up the hill smashed sand trucks.
