The tanks stopped and the paratroopers got out one after another. They fired blanks, and then they started throwing explosives. One fell right by me - l kicked it away with my foot. A second packet was thrown at us. I caught it and threw it back. Then there was a blow and that was everything. It was from a tommy gun. I thought I had lost my leg - I couldn't move it. A Japanese journalist dragged me away and saved me from being trampled. Then another man came over and dragged me to an ambulance. From there I went straight to the operating table in the hospital. They brought my clothes - in my jacket there were five holes and my pants were torn to pieces.
