We (my 2 daughters, my daughter's friend, my husband and I) took turns at the tower on January 12th. We went home for a little while to eat and change our clothes, and then we returned to where there were a lot of people. That's how the rainy and wet day of January 12 passed. After midnight, at 12:30, we went home to change our clothes and drink some tea. My daughter, her friend and I got ready to return to the tower for the rest of the night. My daughter hadn't finished changing her clothes when we heard the tower's alarm siren. At the same time we heard a shot on Cosmonaut Prospect (towards „Vaivorykštė" bus-stop, I think). There was a noise and a droning sound. My daughter's friend and I ran to the tower. They were already firing tank cannons and sub-machine guns at the central entrance. We ran over to the tower fence, and joining hands, blocked the road to the official entrance. The tanks were quickly approaching. One of them turned towards the hill - we realized that it was going to go up the hill. We moved up a little bit higher to block the way to the hill. Suddenly there was screaming in the crowd. Two girls were running and shouting: “They're driving over people!" There were about 30 meters separating us from the first casualties. Next to me some men said that the tanks weren't going to stop, and would continue regardless of any obstacles. The tanks were already going up the hill along the fence...
