I got to the Radio and TV Center on Konarskio Street at 10 p.m. on January 12th. Buses were parked by the entrance to protect it. Before 2 am. you could hear shots and see their glow in the direction of Lazdynai.
From Lazdynai, by the electro-welding plant, a column of tanks appeared. There was some confusion among the people, and most of them crowded by the buses that were blocking the entrance to the building. Soon a column of tanks appeared, led by a huge military vehicle equipped with an antenna. Paratroopers began to shoot their tommy guns at the building, and the windows shattered. People shouted: “Occupants! Fascists! Lithuania! Freedom!.. Paratroopers appeared in the building and fired through the windows. Meanwhile, powerful explosions were resounding in the street among the people. Series of gun-fire could be heard for a while, as well as explosions and individual shots, although they were more isolated.
