They announced over a loudspeaker that there were already casualties. We saw ambulances flying by Parliament with their sirens on. They were carrying the people who had been killed or wounded. We were waiting for an attack on the Supreme Council. Vytautas Landsbergis asked people over a loudspeaker to take children from the square, and suggested that women, and later that everyone, leave the square, as they would defend themselves and didn't want anyone by Parliament to be injured. But nobody heeded his pleas.
